We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the VII International Conference
Word in Education
Good Word, Bad Word or No Word
to be held at Jesuit University Ignatianum, Krakow, 8-9 June, 2020
The “Word in Education” conference series has already featured six events: in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018 at the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona (Spain), in 2016 at the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow (Poland), and in 2019 at the IPC – Facultés Libres de Philosophie et Psychologie in Paris (France). What started as an initiative of the Trivium Research Group at the Abat Oliba CEU University has developed into an international collaboration of the three abovementioned institutions, with the attendance of the researchers from many other countries as well.
The 2020 VII Conference is again hosted by the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow. Like before, we aim to bring together education experts, philosophers of education, psychologists, and literary scholars to explore both the theory and practice of education. This year’s special theme, “Good Word, Bad Word or No Word”, brings into focus educational relationships and interpersonal communication at school, in the family, and in the electronic media.
We hope to receive proposals that will develop some of the following or related topics:
- Encouraging and supportive ways of communication in teaching and parenting
- Abusive language and attitudes in educational relationships
- Emotional distance and neglect in parent-child relationship
- Overcoming barriers in communication in teaching and parenting
- Information overload and lack of meaningful communication
- truth and lie (post-truth)
- hate speech in the electronic media
- media education.
In order to participate in the Conference as a speaker, you are kindly requested to submit the proposal including name, affiliation, title, abstract of the paper (max. 100 words), key words, and a short bio to the email address firstname.lastname@example.org before the 31th of December of 2019.
Further information concerning the registration details, accommodation, etc. will soon be available on the Conference website: www.wordineducation.ignatianum.edu.pl. We are planning the publication of the conference proceedings either in a peer-reviewed collection or in an academic journal of good standing. Editorial guidelines will follow soon. The language of the conference and of the follow-up publication is English.
